Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Overrated
If four dudes quit their daytime jobs working as bartenders and junkyard dealers, Then formed a band and played these same tunes you hear on this cd, It would go unheard, it wouldn't sell a fraction as much.
My point is, its not the music selling its self, its not good enough for that. Its just the fact that its Metallica!
People change over time and I think a artist's music should change with them, otherwise they're just trying to stay cool and not just being cool. But then again, Metallica is suppose to be one of the greatest metal bands ever! They could never not be metal could they?
The music isn't bad, some is actually good. But from metalgods I expect Perfect metal music.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Old energy New polish
I really haven't been crazy about any of their releases since And Justice for all. This release has the energy of the old stuff with the polish of the new stuff. The sound quality could be better, and you would expect that from such an established band, but perhaps that is what they were shooting for. It is, however, the only reason I am not giving it the full 5 stars.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - FINALLY THE OLD METALLICA IS BACK !!
Metallica "Death Magnetic", finally the band realized it's roots & went back to the basics of heavy metal. This album should have been the the follow up to the Black Album. Every song on this CD rocks, great rhythm & lead guitars and of course all of Lar's thunderous drums. I have had this CD in my car for almost 3 weeks & I just can't stop listening to it. I have been a fan of Metallica since the mid 1980's, and I applaud the boys for finally showing their head banging roots !!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Back to the roots
Not Master of Puppets, or Ride the Lightning, but an album that goes back to Metallica's roots. Good, solid metal.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Its Metallica
They are masters of their craft and have again put out an awesome CD. Its metallica, enough said.
