Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Biggest Surpise Of 2008!
Let me say right off the bat and say that this album was a big surprise. As far as ABBA goes, I don't care for their music. While some of their songs are, admitally, have the notes down on paper just fine (at least the songs I like on this soundtrack), ABBA really doesn't have much emotion to back up their catchiness and "pleasant" (read: elevator music) sounding music, it sounds fluffy, twee, and annoying. ABBA's music sounds very dated as well, thanks to their annoying pop studio tricks, very safe feeling, and glossy production. While this soundtrack certainly is produced, it doesn't have to rely on the annoying studio tricks, and actually has passion (I'm as weary as vocal pop these days, but these people can actually sing, and boy do they know how to sing!)

IS it all bliss? Yeah right. Particually, the middle of the album is a mess, alternating between crappy, twee ballads and boring disco knockoffs. You get a halfway decent break with Slipping Through My Fingers, which is still bad but not anguish like, other than that, everything in the middle reaks, starting with Voulez Vous. And if Meryl Streep has any chance of making a good impression on her crappy vocal ballads, you have to suffer through Pierce Bronsan's terrible voice. That guy can't sing to save his life. I will give him a pat on the back. He does an alright job with songs like Our Last Summer, but that's because he only gets to sing about ten seconds or so. Good call, person who layed that out. Also, they don't have Fernando, probably the only stellar ABBA song that I have heard. What gives? It kind of is akward talking about one song, but Super Trooper is a dud.

Yes, this album is well rounded out, and really fixes some of the problems that the originals had, but it still isn't worth anything more than a seven. It's not a must own, but it's pretty much the best way to listen to ABBA songs.

7/10

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A smile on my face
If I close my eyes while listening to this CD, I can relive the movie, which I loved! I really like Abba anyway but when you hear the music being done by the people in the movie, it comes more alive.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mamma Mia
This is a wonderful CD. I play it all the time and the music stays with you for hours. If you haven't seen the movie - go. All of the singers do a good job. They are entertaining - not amazing singers, but fine for the type of music they are performing. For anyone who loves light hearted music this CD is a must.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mamma Mia
The CD of Mamma Mia was absolutely awesome. We listen to it all the time.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mamma Mia sound track
We have seen the stage and film version of the musical and now have the sound tracks of both. We listen to them all the time. Plus we were big ABBA fans in the 70's.
